24 hour team relay

If you don’t fancy 28 hours, there is the chance to participate in a team relay, which, over the last few years, the French have introduced in many of their 24 hour events. The relay has become a hotly contested event in itself. Roubaix is no exception - each year more teams enter. In 2009 there were 4 French teams and one GB team (The Lightning Ladies). 2010 should see two GBR teams participate and a Dutch team (composed of two Centurions!) to challenge the French. Vivre Angleterre! Update: see list of teams

Registration: (possibly) same as for the 28 hours.

Entry fee: 25 Euros per team for licenced athletes;

  • Start time: 1700 Rue de l'Epeule, Roubaix. Walkers to present themselves at the start line at 16:45
  • A team may be composed of 3 walkers - and it may be mixed, male /female (licensed or non-licensed)
  • Licensed athletes should present their licence at registration; non-licensed athletes must present a medical certificate
  • One the team is declared, it cannot be changed
  • One relay vest will be issued per team and the change-overmust be effected by the control point situated in the "Village Marcheurs"
  • The relay team can decide how many laps each to be walked.
  • On Sunday, 19th, the team member who is at the control point at 1600 will continue to walk - there will be no changeover.
  • A deposit of 30 Euros must be paid for the relay vest which will be reimbursed on the return of the vest in good conditon
  • Walkers must maintain an average of 5 km per hour for th efirst 16 hours or the whole team will be stopped.
  • A distance of 80Kms (50 miles) must be covered within the first 16 hours
  • No team will be eliminated after 0900, Sunday,19th
  • To classify, the team must have covered 100km within the 24 hours at the finish line 1700.
  • The disqualification of one walker will not eliminate the whole team, therefore two walkers may continue as a team
