  Australians Centurions September 2005

The Farmer Trophy – first awarded in 1881, donated by Fred Baker

Freddie Baker, British Centurion and now resident in Queensland for part of each year, has kindly donated to the club a very old and significant trophy for us to use.
Freddie has passed onto our club an historic trophy that was awarded to his grandfather many years ago.

The inscription on the pewter trophy reads as follows
ONE MILE WALKING HANDICAP
WON BY
R. FARMER
OCT 10TH 1881

the Farmer Trophy, has now been refurbished and mounted and will be used to recognise the winners of the annual Race walking Australia 100 km championship, held in conjunction with our Centurion walk. It looks great and will be on display at the 2006 event. The names of the 2005 winners have been added to the base plate.
