Annie Van Der Meer (C.xxxx ) and fellow Dutch ultra walker Huib van Broekhoven (C.xxx) embarked on March 24th on a challenge of walking 1200 km in 18 days. The plan was to walk 80 km per day – the breakdown was 6 days walking, 1 rest day, 6 days walking, one rest day and finally 4 days of walking. When they finished on 10th April, they had covered the full Ronde van Nederland, a 1200 km cycling route which consists of an almost complete lap of Holland. It was not just an endurance challenge; it was also a fund raising exercise for the Kika Foundation which treats childhood cancer.
Ably supported by Huib's wife Carla and Annie's husband Joop, they had different people walking with them each dayas they made their way around the Netherlands. The website
http://www.stappenvoorkika.nl gives full detail of their adventure but, be warned, it's in Dutch! (from Tim Erickson's Australian Centurions Newsletter)

bulletKevin Marshall took part in the 2008 Paris Colmar. Sadly, Kevin was timed out at Gondrecourt after completing 355 km - just a 100km from the finish. Kevin vows to participate in the 2009 edition. Neverthless, it was a terrific achievement, and something so few UK athletes have indeed achieved.  View Kevin's website. http://www.kevinmarshallpariscolmar08.co.uk/
