A very special day

Isle of Man 20th February 2016
The Manx Harriers Open meeting took place on Saturday 20th February 2016 at the NSC (Douglas)

Captain Kathy Crilley, C933, went over to the Isle of Man on Saturday, 20th February to present the new Centurions with their Certificate.

It was a great gathering at Manx Harriers meeting with distances ranging from 1km to 20km.
This event has been a regular in the Manx fixture calendar for many years and while not currently sponsored frequently attracts International and Olympic athletes from Ireland and the UK as the fast NSC perimeter circuit gives a great opportunity to post a good early season mark if weather conditions are favourable. Well the weather was typical for the Island - wet! But PBs were set. (But not by the Captain!)

RWA President Fred Pearce Jr was also in attendance - so quite an auspicious occasion.

Thank you to Steve Taylor for organisng the gathering of new Centurions. And a special thank you to Tony Mackintosh for the taxi service between the airport and the NSC and back;  also to Karen Lawrie and family for looking after the Captain (me!) whilst I was on the Island.

Other Centurions present included the current 100 mile champion - Vinny Lynch and co-organisers of the Castletown 100 - Robbie Calliister and Jock Waddington. Good to see Jayne Farquar competing in the open meeting as well.
And thank you to the new Centurions who came along to collect their certificates. It was really a pleasure to see you all again. It was a very special day indeed.
