No Finish Line 2011,  Monaco
12th - 20th November 2011

Centurions Richard and Sandra Brown and Kathy Crilley took part in the prestigious charity race No Finsh Line held  12th -20th November 2011.
The No Finish Line has two races - the 8 day race (12th -20th) which Richard entered and the 24 hour race (19th-20th November) which Sandra and Kathy participated in.

The 24 hour race
Out of the 46 entrants, there were only two other walkers besides Sandra and Kathy - Belgium Centurion, Ludo Schaerlackens and Claude Herman. Neither Sandra nor Kathy had any expectations of the race... just there to enjoy the plentiful sunshine and a bit of pre-winter training.

The race was also a selection race for the French World (Running) 2012 24 hour Championships. Imagine our surprise as we learnt we were gradually creeping up the leaderboard! See the results below... no pressure, especially as Kathy was heading for a 3rd lady position!

Chip timing meant that result sheets were posted on the wall in the feeding area after each hour - so the athletes could easily keep track of their tally of kilometres.

The event was originally conceived as a charity fund raising event for disadvantaged and sick children, but now attracts some good athletes (mostly from the running world).
The event invites everyone in Monaco to come and walk, jog or run a few laps - every kilometre is matched by lcoal business putting one euro into the charity fund. 2011 raised over 223,000 euros. The downside is, of course, you have to share the road with families (and their pets) .... which means you have to be prepared for pesky kids and dogs running up and down.  Neverthless, it is a good and well organised event. Well recommended.

Richard mixed running and walking during the race until a knee injury (swerving to avoid child on the course0 which meant he had to have treatment and a 24 hour rest.

World record holder (ultra runniing) Eleanor Robinson crewed for Richard, Sandra and Kathy.
